A new stone fireplace and updated staircase created a beautiful new aesthetic for this client’s living space, while a new office upstairs gave them a dedicated work from home space to enjoy.

We contacted Ealy Construction for a significant remodel of our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The project involved converting a large room into two, adding a 20 ft tall floor to ceiling fireplace, refreshing some exterior doors, and updating a staircase. Ealy Construction, led by Project Lead Mark Tolman, Project Manager Scott Humphreys, and Designer Teresa McCunn, exceeded our expectations in every aspect.

An adjustable mount allows the TV to be pulled below the mantle.

A beautiful hardwood mantelpiece complements the stonework.

The new fireplace provides a stunning centerpiece for the room.

The design and planning stage, spearheaded by Teresa and Scott, set a strong foundation for the project. Teresa’s talent for creating cohesive and appealing designs within the context of our existing home architecture was fully leveraged, and greatly appreciated. The floor-to-ceiling linear gas fireplace she designed was gorgeous. Additionally, the remodeled staircase, despite initial hesitations about the dramatic color and style changes, turned out to be a stunning focal point that consistently draws compliments from everyone who enters our home.

This staircase was updated with new spindles and refinished in a dark color. Matching balusters and railings were sourced for the new bridge.

Adjustable height desks on casters allow for a flexible work environment, while a brass floor outlet cover provides easy access to power from any location in the room.

Several feet at the end of the room were walled off to create a new utility closet, and a new access door was included to the adjoining attic.

Before: Two rounded archways allowed access to this room from both directions, creating a challenging layout to style and use.

After: Splitting this room into an upstairs and downstairs, removing one entryway, and adding a set of double doors created a new space to entertain guests and spend time with the kids.

Tile was moved from another area of the home and was blended into the existing flooring for a seamless transition through the new threshold.

Another example of Ealy’s adaptability was when matching tiles could not be located for a section of the flooring. The Ealy team proposed and executed a creative solution that consisted of carefully removing and reinstalling existing 30-year-old tiles from less critical areas to maintain a seamless look where it mattered.

Scott Humphreys, the Project Manager, dedicated significant time during the preparation stage, measuring, planning, and crawling around the attic and crawlspace. His meticulous approach minimized surprises, and both Scott and Teresa were highly responsive and easily accessible throughout this phase.

As the construction commenced, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Project Lead Mark Tolman and his highly competent team, including JC, Mark, and Keziah. Mark’s proactive communication, problem-solving skills, and adaptability were instrumental in making the entire process smooth and stress-free as possible.

One of the standout qualities of Mark and his team was their commitment to safety. Given that we have two small children, we appreciated the extra precautions taken to ensure our home remained a safe environment throughout the construction process. Additionally, in terms of livability during construction, the team at Ealy went above and beyond implementing elaborate dust and fume containment measures that kept disruptions to the household to a minimum.

Throughout the project, Ealy Construction brought in subcontractors who were respectful, professional, and were great around our kids.

Ealy Construction delivered a remodel that surpassed our expectations. Their workmanship, competence, communication, adaptability, and commitment to safety were top notch. We wholeheartedly recommend Ealy Construction for any remodeling project and look forward to working with them again in the future.
